One Readers Dating Success
September 3rd 2008 12:45
This story was submitted by a reader, and it's great to hear of success stories out there in the big bad world of online dating. Read and enjoy.
My Success Story
After 13 years of marriage, a period of being single for about 18 months, then another unsuccessful 3 year relationship, i was ready to start dating again.
I joined a coupe of internet dating sites, and had a few first dates. There was no one with that special spark.
I booked a week off work, and decided to spoil myself - do all the hings a single girl can do with time on her hands - shop, get pampered and eat cakes.
By Tuesday, however, I was bored!
So I joined another internet dating site, just for a chat and some human company.
I received a message from Bob. He was a full time single dad, with two boys under two. His profile, whilst interesting, did not grab me, neither did his photo. But I thought, what have I got to lose, he seems nice, and despite my reservations about the kids (I had never ever ever wanted kids of my own), we began chatting.
Against all the advice, both on this site, and from friends, we decided to meet a couple of days later. We planed a day trip to an amusement park.
I was very nervous, both about meeting Bob, and the kids.
But we got on great, had a wonderful day, and his profile and photo had in no way done him justice.
I already had plans for that evening, so we agreed to meet the following evening, for a meal at his place.
When I arrived, despite myself, I could not resist a little look in at his kids asleep. This shocked even me!
Anyway, to the happy ending, Bob came to mine on the Saturday, just 4 days after that initial message and we have never been apart since.
All that was 11 months ago, and I am delighted to say that we are getting married on our anniversary in June.
Bob and his two boys are amazing, I love them to bits, and I am just so glad that we met, fell in love and will live happily ever after.
Internet dating can work, sometimes you just have to take a chance and see how it goes.
